Erica Wexler announces free MP3 giveaway via her official website

Orchestral-pop songstress Erica Wexler has announced a free MP3 giveaway of a new track, Flesh, at her brand new official website www.ericawexler.co.uk

Erica has just completed her debut album Sunlit Night, executive produced by XTC’s Andy Partridge, and mixed by Andy Bradfield (Rufus Wainwright, Elbow, David Gray). The record is due out in September 2012, with the EP and lead single Wildflowers, coming out on June 25th.

Erica Wexler has lived a life that’s full and always done it her own way. She has poured her experiences into her debut album, Sunlit Night – released September 3rd on Folly Music.

Talking of the song Flesh, Wexler says;

“It’s a song that I hope will inspire procreation and a good time for all. It was great fun to record, there’s Middle Eastern percussion and endless real vocal pads of my voice that I hope will make the song feel like a sensual scented bath for you and another special body.”

Erica was girlfriend to pop artist Roy Lichtenstein for 2 and a half years. She was the inspiration for introducing nudes into Lichtenstein’s work. Sunlit Night was funded by the sale of some Lichtenstein drawings given to her by the artist. She still has an interesting collection of unique mementos from this period.

There has been additional significant major festival endorsement in 2012 for goCarShare. ReadingLeeds and Latitude will be providing FREE priority car parking for the first 200 cars to sign up through goCarShare.

In addition, the introduction of an empty car seat tax from Glade and Secret Garden Party festivals is an initiative that directly encourages more people to car share. goCarShare is absolutely FREE to use with sharers contributing to the overall cost of the journey through a recommended goCarShare tariff. There is an easy to use interface and the site is built around Facebook so ‘goCarSharers’ can screen who they pair up with using information pulled through from Facebook and find people who are friends of friends and have similar musical tastes. There is also an eBay style rating system to help weed out any bad drivers or unreliable passengers.

One of the exciting new developments this year will be the launch of the ‘goCarShare Sessions’. Bands are taken on a goCarShare journey to their festival destinations with their instruments and along the way an audio-visual chronicle of their road trip is filmed.

Impromptu motorway shenanigans, off the cuff insightful conversations and poignant moments of musical magic will be captured wrapped and delivered into a two part video containing acoustic tracks, in-depth interviews, cool give-a-ways and band merch.  All free and part of goCarShare’s commitment to sharing Great British talent!

DINOWALRUS REVEAL NEW VIDEO

For Upcoming Single ‘Beth Steel’ (Out May 21st)

On Heist Or Hit Records

“Wondrous dance-punk” Pitchfork

“Pure pop… “Phone Home” is astounding” Pop Matters

Dinowalrus, fronted by visual artist and sometime guitarist of Titus Andronicus, Pete Feigenhaum, and backed by Max Tucker and Liam Andrew have released a new video for new single Beth Steel, out May 21st.

Directed by Argentinean Roberto Llauro the video uses the striking image of The Domino Sugar Factory as its centre piece – the same image gracing the cover of their anticipated debut UK release Best Behavior. Doused in electrifying hues and back dropped by swirls of galaxy it’s a trip offering welcome reminiscence to our own baggy scene, sparked by the likes of The Stones Roses, as well as to the band’s interests in krautrock, house music, post-punk and psychedelic rock.

The album ‘Best Behavior’ will be released June 4th.

Pre order it now here:

Best Behavior was recorded in Brooklyn 2010 and 2011 with Nadim Issa and Matt Walsh (The Forms), and after a rotating cast of past drummers including Andy Bond (who would later join Friends) and Etienne DuGuay (who would later join Real Estate), features the sticks work of the Depreciation Guild’s Anton Hochheim, plus a brief cameo vocal appearance from longtime friend Patrick Stickles of Titus Andronicus on “What Now”. Remix work was done by Philly house mainstays Pink Skull, and Jez Kerr from 80s Manchester Factory Records post-punk legends A Certain Ratio.

Dana Jade releases her debut album on May 29th via Priestess Records.

Dana Jade’s rock siren was born and raised in tropical Trinidad, and spent summers in New York with her father, soaking up a pancultural palette of influences, from riot grrrl and grunge to blues and Trinidadian rapso. As a teen, Jade found herself frustrated with the folksy acoustic songs advocated by her guitar teachers and bored with the respectable Presbyterian piano songs she was encouraged to learn at home, drawn instead to the raucous energy of the electric guitar. The rock matriarchs who’d go on to inspire her – Patti Smith, Joan Jett – were absent from Trinidadian mainstream charts, but Madonna’s subversive anthems piped out of radios abundantly, and Ciccone’s charged raunch pop afforded Jade a liberation she’d come to enjoy in a grittier, less polished form: punk rock.

Jade’s own punk rock awakening came in 1995, after seeing Courtney Love snarling and spitting her way through a Hole performance at MTV’s VMA awards.  Emboldened, Jade emigrated to London in 2002, armed with the trusty Fender Strat she’d picked up from a store on New York City’s 48th street. She found community and friendship on London’s underground club/live music scene, becoming a regular at Club Motherfucker, where she was recruited by Gaggle front-woman Deborah Coughlin. She joined the all-girl alt choir for 3 years, performing at Reading Festival and guesting on Later…with Jools Holland with My Morning Jacket, all the while committed to her solo craft, notching up a support slot for John Parish at London’s Water Rats before departing the collective in early 2012 to refine the songs that make up this gutsy, attitudinal debut.

Jade’s eponymous debut sees her embodying rock’s travelling protagonist with gusto, capturing the passionate affairs, bitter betrayals and sensual revelries that have marked out her cross-continent adventures.  Electric guitar pervades, but Jade transforms rock’s standard conventions by drawing on the musical tropes of her native Trinidad, fusing cathartic distortion-fuelled power chords with tropical inspired tempos and reverb-kissed dub bridges, a style she refers to as ‘Caribbean rock’.

The album was co-produced by drummer Ian McKenzie, and features Linda Perry’s bassist Paul Ill (Courtney Love, Juliette Lewis) who took over from John MacKenzie for a guest spot on ‘Lust’. The bluesy punk of early PJ Harvey and the rebellion of The Clash have inspired Jade, but it’s the primal, sexual energy of rock that truly fires this record, and Jade delivers her missives accordingly, with mouth pressed close to the microphone for soft seductive growls and seething challenges that break out into shuddering yells come the chorus. The songs are tension-filled and volatile, from the burning, sultry opener of upcoming single ‘Eyes Like Cinder’ to the rage-filled polyamory-busting stomp of ‘She Or I Go’, and though gritty reverb may power the album, the jumping rhythms that drive everything are equally potent, from the hard rock pummelling of ‘Gritting Teeth’ and the steady kick of ‘Little Sister’s anthem for sisterhood and self-empowerment, to the soca-inflected percussion on ‘The End of The Line’ and ‘Dark As Midnight’. Consider Jade’s tropical femme-fatal rock affair a debut to be reckoned with.
